Grabatu is made to keep voice notes private. This policy describes the data practices of the Grabatu iOS app.

What Grabatu stores

Grabatu stores your recordings, transcripts, tags, edits, and app settings on your device. The app does not provide accounts, analytics, advertising, or app-operated cloud storage.

When data leaves your device

Your recordings and transcripts stay on-device unless you take an action that sends them elsewhere, such as sharing, exporting, or creating a backup. Those actions use destinations you choose, and their handling of data is governed by their own policies.

If you choose to download a transcription model, Grabatu connects to Hugging Face to download the model files you selected. Grabatu does not send recordings or transcripts to Hugging Face for transcription.

Optional in-app tips are processed by Apple through the App Store. Grabatu does not receive payment-card details.

Permissions

Grabatu asks for microphone access only to record audio. You can change that permission in iOS Settings at any time.

Retention and deletion

Your content remains on your device until you delete it. Deleted recordings are retained in Grabatu for 30 days before permanent removal, unless you permanently delete them sooner. Exported or shared copies are controlled by the destination you choose.

Third parties

Grabatu includes WhisperKit for on-device transcription, GRDB for its local database, and ZIPFoundation for local backup archives. These components are not used for analytics or advertising. Whisper model downloads are hosted by Hugging Face when you request them.
